Synchronous learning enables real-time peer and tutor interaction in support of blended learning delivery. While asynchronous learning creates space for reflective practice, synchronous learning helps to scaffold independent study, providees opportunities for instant feedback and live collaboration and plays an important function in building learning communities and a more engaging student experience. The challenge with synchronous learning can be in encouraging students to participate and engage fully. This highly interactive workshop provides practical advice how to structure a synchronous session to maximise student engagement. The workshop is designed with the types of simple interactive tools and technique you might use in a synchronous learning experience – both online and face to face - to enable you to experience them first-hand and put them into practice when designing your own session.
