Fascinated by the intersection of culture, politics and social change, Samira Ahmed presents Front Row on Radio 4 and Newswatch on BBC1 and was a presenter and correspondent at Channel 4 News. Her fascination with Arnold Bennett began when a school teacher put The Old Wives Tale on a reading list of great English Literature. She studied English at St Edmund Hall Oxford and took a Newspaper journalism diploma at City University before starting her career as BBC News Trainee. She’s been a BBC news correspondent, Los Angeles correspondent, a reporter on Newsnight and the Today programme and a presenter at Deutsche Welle TV in Berlin. Samira’s many documentaries for BBC radio include Arnold of the Five Towns. Her talk will explore how Arnold Bennett speaks to modern Britain.
